Do you Aardvark?

Here is a new concept (at least for me!): Social Search. There is a new start-up in SF that is leading social search call Aardvark (http://vark.com/). The concept is interesting. They describe their services saying, "Aardvark applies advanced technology to identify the right person, among the tens of thousands in your extended network, to answer a particular question; and then lets you reach out without bothering people, spamming friends, or imposing on someone who isn’t interested." In another words, why let Google, Yahoo or Ask answer a question for you when you can ask those in your social network (Facebook, IM lists, etc) for information and get answers that are trusted by peers who know you or of a similar demographic. The picture above describes the process. The site is currently in beta. You can sign up to test the beta product on their website.

Thank You Amber!!

I am inspired to begin my blog due to the fabulous Amber Taylor. She is my running hero as she just qualified for the Boston Marathon (the ultimate run) this past weekend at the San Diego marathon. I crossed the finish line, although I did not qualify for Boston nor did I give any elite runner a run for their money (BOO!), now I know why training is a really good idea!!

Anyhow, I added Amber to Facebook and noticed her daily blog to which i took a liking to (amber-taylor.blogspot.com) ....so there you have it - the truley UNcomplicated story of how I started blogging. Like alot of my life, no rhyme or reason, just going for it!!

I hope to bring topics for you to "discuss amongst yourselves" and connect you to bay area activities!

Ciao!
